On March 28, 2015 the SSI Secretariat in Kathmandu organized a Panel discussion on the disease Swine Flu. Swine Flu (H1N1) is a human respiratory infection caused by an influenza strain that started in pigs. Out of the total 300 samples collected from across the country, a total of 42 patients have tested positive for the H1N1 influenza until March 1st, according to Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
To minimise the effects of the Swine Flu virus and follow necessary precautions Sano Sansar Initiative invited the following professionals as the panelist in the event:
Dr. Bishow Shrestha from Vayoda Hospital; Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun from Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital; and Dr. Ranjit Kumar Jha from Bir Hospital.
About 90 young individuals from Kathmandu Valley joined the event.
