Sano Sansar Initiative is Organising an Essay Competition Marking the late-second-half of Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). Children and Youths from Nepal (Aged: 14-18) are eligible to participate the Competition. For detailed information please refer to the guidelines and Terms/Conditions.

Guidelines/major issues for consideration, which may help to write the Essay
ï Make influence of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) along with following guidelines.
ï Nepal’s Achievement towards a low carbon and green economy.
ï Opportunity for children and youths for Development in Nepal
ï Youth’s Perspective on Sustainable Decision Making
ï Reducing Extreme Poverty and Hunger through Climate Justice
ï Success of Governments and I/NGOs for the sustainable development of Nepal
ï Sustainable Practices by youths in Nepal
ï How the RIO+20 (UN Conference on Sustainable Development) made a difference with “The Future We want”
ï The need in practicing “Education for Sustainable Development” ESD in Nepal
ï Role of Youths in Making the DESD (Decade of Education for Sustainable Development) a Success

Assessment of essay:

Judges will select the top two essays per each of the following two groups:
ï Essay in Nepali
o Age group (14-18 years old)

ï Essay in English
o Age group (14-18 years old)

Essays with Local Examples and appropriate datas with references/source will be prioritised.

Prizes:

Top four essay writers will be chosen as winners and will be awarded special educational gifts.

Terms and Conditions:

ï Essay should be written in 700 words either in Nepali or in English in MS Word format (.doc or .docx) and sent to [email protected]
ï Colour Scan of Birth Certificate Or Citizenship Or Passport Or A reference letter from school verifying your date of Birth should be attached along with the essay.
ï You will be automatically disqualified if plagiarism is found within the content of your essay.
ï One participant can send only one essay.
ï 15 from each group will be selected as primary selection
ï Essay should be named by her/his name, age, school, e-mail address and mobile number
ï Sano Sansar Initiative holds the complete right to include & remove any entry for the contest at any point in time.
ï Any writing considered inappropriate with the culture & values will be eliminated from the competition.
ï Sano Sansar Initiative holds the right to use any of the top essays awarded with prize in this contest at any cause upon mutual consent.
ï Sano Sansar Initiative holds all the rights to take any required decision without prior notice.

Last date of Submission 23 October 2012

Results will be published on 2nd / 3rd week of November 2012.
